hurray for minis

Although I am not officially done with my thesis, I am very close, and so yesterday we went out and bought my "carrot." My very own mini cooper in "astro black." I've wanted a mini for quite a few years now, and my husband and I agreed it would be an appropriate reward for finally finishing my masters. So I've been scooting around, enjoying the new car smell and the fancy gadgets, and congratulating myself for actually accomplishing something.

OK, so I haven't quite accomplished it yet, but I'm just pages away from being finished. This whole paper-writing process has been a huge boost for my confidence, as I pretty much had the belief that I'm smart enough to get things done but never really motivated enough to follow through. I spend so much time in my head, mulling things over, wishing I would be more productive and less spacey. So it's a brand new me driving that fabulous mini. A me that accomplishes tasks, a me that GETS THINGS DONE. Very unlike the old me.
